The Matthew 25 Center |
History of The Matthew 25 Center
The 7,000 plus square foot center was completed late in 2002 with no debt obligations. After a start-up period the center officially opened in May, 2004. Support is provided by area churches, annual fundraising events, individuals, and most recently, a grant from the Cape Fear Memorial Foundation. The center’s lodging facilities are open to families who travel great distances to visit their loved ones in prison. The closest, Pender Correctional Institution, is located in Burgaw, but services are not limited to this area. A number of other prisons and jails are located within a short driving distance of the Center. In addition, The Matthew 25 Center’s administrative wing includes office space which other prison ministries can use. The Matthew 25 Center serves as a local base of support for these ministries as they reach out to the prisons and jails in SE North Carolina.
